Cosmetic acupuncture, also known as facial rejuvenation acupuncture, is a natural approach to supporting healthier, more vibrant-looking skin. Using very fine acupuncture needles on both the face and body, treatment is designed to promote circulation, support collagen production, address facial muscle tension and tone, and encourage the body's own rejuvenating processes.

Unlike treatments intended to dramatically alter facial movement or appearance, cosmetic acupuncture takes a more gradual, holistic approach. The goal is to help you look refreshed, rested and naturally rejuvenated—while still looking like yourself.

Facial rejuvenation acupuncture uses several different needling techniques depending on the area being treated and the desired effect.

Very fine needles may be placed superficially to stimulate the skin and local circulation, while other points may be selected to address areas of facial muscle tension or tone. Fine needles can also be placed along individual lines and wrinkles to encourage a localized healing response.

These techniques are intended to stimulate circulation and the skin's natural repair processes, including collagen and elastin production, while addressing the underlying musculature of the face.

Because everyone's face and skin are different, treatment is never one-size-fits-all. One patient may be primarily interested in improving overall radiance and skin quality, while another may want to focus on areas such as forehead lines, smile lines, the eye area, facial tension or sagging along the jawline.

Cosmetic acupuncture produces gradual, natural-looking changes rather than dramatic overnight results.

Some patients notice that their skin looks brighter or more refreshed after the first few treatments, while more visible changes typically develop over a series of sessions.

For most patients, the recommended cosmetic acupuncture course is generally 10–15 treatments, with many patients beginning to notice changes around treatments 4 to 6. Treatment frequency and the number of sessions needed can vary depending on age, skin condition, lifestyle and individual goals.

Facial rejuvenation acupuncture isn't limited to the face.

Each session includes body acupuncture as well as facial acupuncture. From a Chinese medicine perspective, the health and appearance of the skin can reflect what's happening internally. Sleep, stress, digestion, hormonal balance and overall health may all influence how our skin looks and feels.

Body acupuncture points are therefore selected according to the individual, with the goal of addressing underlying patterns of imbalance while also promoting relaxation and overall well-being.

This whole-person approach is what makes cosmetic acupuncture fundamentally different from treatments focused exclusively on the surface of the skin.

Angie Ng, L.Ac. has pursued advanced training in cosmetic and facial rejuvenation acupuncture with internationally recognized practitioners and educators including Martha Lucas, creator of the Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture System™, Mary Elizabeth Wakefield, and Ping Zhang.

Rather than relying on a single standardized protocol, Angie incorporates techniques from this advanced training to create an individualized treatment based on each patient's facial structure, skin concerns, overall health and aesthetic goals.

That experience allows treatment to address the face at multiple levels—from superficial techniques targeting skin quality and fine lines to acupuncture techniques intended to influence facial muscle tension and tone.

LED Light Therapy

Therapeutic LED light can complement cosmetic acupuncture by supporting cellular activity and collagen production. We use the Celluma Pro LED system, which offers programs for skin rejuvenation and acne.

Microneedling

For patients seeking more intensive collagen stimulation or improvement in skin texture, fine lines, enlarged pores, pigmentation or acne scarring, microneedling may be recommended on its own or incorporated into a broader facial rejuvenation plan.

Our Microessence treatment combines collagen induction therapy with LED light and microcurrent technology.
